How do we make our own organic compost from worms? I found out about worms a few years ago and hoped my daughter would use this information to bring it up to her teacher who would then help students make their own worm farms. But, that idea got put aside and now I have been re-introduced to the idea of worm farming again.
What’s so good about worm poop (vermicast)? Well, I’m not a real expert at this as I am just beginning but what the experts have told me is that when you use the vermicast, also known as “black gold”, on your garden, it creates this invisible barrier from bugs, telling the insects that they are healthy and they do not need to be eaten. Most insects attack the weak plants and that is when we bring out the toxic chemicals to kill them.
There are a variety of options to hold your worms in as well as a variety of price ranges from cheap to expensive and elaborate. I will be making some samples and getting photos of these up really soon.
